Lies that Iago told Othello:
1. He tells Othello that he is his friend.
2. He tells Othello that Desdemona is having an affair with Cassio.
3. He tells Othello that Cassio has Desdemona's handkerchief.
4. He tells Othello that Cassio is the "green-eyed" monster that stole Desdemona.
5. He says all through the play that he "loves" Othello but really he hates Othello and wants him out of the picture.

Team Players

The main team players in othello were Iago and Rodrigo. This team wanted to distroy the marrage of othello and Desdomona. It also wanted to get Cassio demoted from being othellos leutenet. As you probably already know this team was very jealous of people above them. Rodrigo wanted Desdomona for himself so this led to him paying Iago to help destroy her marriage to othello. So Iago got his wife to get him Desdomonas handkerchief that othello had given her. He hid it in Cassios corters and he gave it to Emelia and she liked it. Cassio went up to othello and told him about his situation with tyhis girl which othello had thought he was talking about desdomona. So Cassio had gotten demoted and Iago got his way. So instead of stopping right there he kept pushing his luck. So finally Otghello has Iago kill Cassio and then Rodrigo gets killed then finally othello ends up strangling Desdomona because of her unfaithfulness. Then he fids out she didnt do it and he kills himself. Thats the main team Players in OTHELLO.

INTELLECTUAL CHARACTERS:

Brabantio: I believe Brabantio is an intellectual character because he is an older gentleman whom we assume is wise with age. He is a senator to the states council of his district.

Iago: I believe Iago is an intellectual character because he has a master plan to dethrown othello and remove cassio from first LT. Iago is intelligient to understand what revolves around him so he is able to capitalize on oppurtunities that would benefit himself.

Good Guys
I didn't find much good in this play as far as people go. In my good guys category I only had two people. I had Brabantio and Cassio. I choose Brabantio as a good guy because he didn’t really do anything bad. He was deceived by Iago but didn’t do anything evil towards Othello. I choose Cassio as a good guy for a couple of reasons. He had his faults yes like getting drunk in the fight, sleeping with Bianca but he was a good guy. He was always true to Othello and tried to defeat the villains Iago and Rodrigo. He never slept with Desdemona. If anyone else has something to add to the good guys category I would gladly except it. Could you title anything you add as Good Guys cont. thanks. Also Albert I’m looking for a strong response from you. Mrs.Stallman if you read it I would like to here what you have to say I think it would benefit the review.

Loyalty

Desdemona was loyal to Othello. She wanted to help him and cater to him every minute. She stays loyal to him even when he kills her! She says that she smotherd herself now tell me thats loyalty. She wants to help even when she knows hes mad at her. Emilia is loyal to Iago. She gives him Desdemona's handkercheif even though she doesnt know why he wants it. She is kind of loyal to Desdemona except for the fact the she gices iago her Handkercheif. She stands up for emilia towards othello and Iago. She realizes at the end of Iago's plan. Cassio tries to be loyal to Othello but it does not seem like it to Othello because of Iago's lies. Iago is loyal top no one but himself. He doesnt to help anyone but himself. Roderigo stays loyal to Iago but Iago stabs him in the back. Rodrigo does everything Iago tells him to and helps iago in trying to kill Cassio.

My topic was WOOING.

Brabantio: He thought he had gained Desdemona's love. Brabantio thought he was magical and that he could just win her love that way.

Othello: He was real with Desdemona by telling her about the Moor and that he was a warrior.

Jealousy
The play starts with Iago jealous of Cassio because of the lieutenant he received. Othello is driven mad with jealousy when confronted with "proof" of Desdemona's unfaithfulness. Rodrigo is jealous that Othello managed to get Desdemona while he was left in the dust.

Desdemona:
Desdemona became Othello's wife after their sectret wedding. They were both very much in love and very loyal to each other. Desdemona befriended Cassio after Cassio got drunk one night. She tried to make Cassio look good to Othello. After Emelia took Desdemona's handkerchief, Desdemona lied to Othello about her knowlege of it's whereabouts. That gave him "proof' that she was having an affair with Cassio. This was of course false, but she could not prove that she was inocent. He felt that she betrayed him and he eventually smothered her to death. Even then she stayed loyal to her husband and she said that she had comitted suicide.

Iago

Okay, what can I say. Iago is one mean cat. Hes a deceiver. He manages to trick just about everyone in the play. But mainly his hate is focused on Othello. Cassio made Lieutenant over Iago. Iago made it tricked Othello into to thinking he was on his side. He plans out the whole handkerchief situation so that really screws Desdemona alot. Iago is an evil mastermind I.E. an intellectual. He plans this whole thing out from the beginning and slowing executes his plan. Iago kills the weaklings in this play and has a ton of hate towards everyone...he needs a week in the Caribbean or something.

letters of Roderigo

These were letters that were found with Roderigos body after Iago had prtented to be a hero and kill Roderigo in front of all those people. the Letters revealed that Iago and Roderigo were working together and they had planed to kill cassio. this information let everyone find out that "honest" Iago was not so honest after all.

Villians::

1. Iago: Is a villian because he ploted this whole plan, and he told alot of lies and he was not a good guy. He was always lieing and trying to trick people.

2. Roderigo: Is a villian because he desperetly wants to break Othello and Desdemona up. He was also working with Iago to kill Cassio.

3. Othello: Is a villian because he wants Roderigo to kill Cassio, but it never gets done. He is also a villian becuase he ends up killing Desdemona becuase he thinks that they(Cassio and Desdemona) are having an affair

The Relationsip between Cassio and Desdemona:
The relationship between Desdemona and Cassio was friendship. Desdemona always tried to help Cassio out by telling Othello all the great qualities about him and things that he does right. There was nothing sexual going on between Cassio and Desdemona at all.
On the flip side...Othello thought the complete opposite. Othello thought that Desdemona was cheating on him with Cassio because Iago led him believe that. Othello thought that Desdemona and Cassio had more of a sexual relationship because all the good things Desdemonda said about Cassio when she was really just tring to help him. Also When Othello over herd Cassio and Iago talking about Bianca Othello thought that Cassio and Iago were talking about Desdemona having a closer relationship then Othello thought.

Cassio:
- Received Lieutenant Position over Iago.
- He is said by Iago to not have much experience on the battlefield.
-Was using Bianca, Bianca was not aware and thought they were in love.
-Was stripped of his Lieutenant position, after Rodrigo starts fighting with a drunken Cassio.
- Desdemona was trying to get his job back; Iago used their talking to convince Othello that they were having an affair!
-Iago manipulates it so that Othello thinks that Cassio is talking about using Desdemona not Bianca.
- Rodrigo tries to assassinate Cassio but fails; Cassio then wounds Rodrigo and is stabbed in the leg by Iago from behind.

Victims:

*Roderigo- Even though he was working with Iago to get Desdemona, Iago was using him for his money and killed him to keep him from telling everyone about his plans.
*Othello- Othello was convinced by Iago that Desdemona was having an affair with Cassio.
*Desdemona- She was wrongfully accused of having an affair with Cassio by Othello. Othello kills her from his rage.
*Cassio- Iago's plan stripped him of his position, accused him of an affair with Desdemona, and got him severely wounded.
*Bianca- Even though a "courtesan" is not the kind of person you want to hang out with, Bianca was, unknowingly, used to convince Othello that Cassio was sleeping with Desdemona. She also was blamed by Iago when Cassio was stabbed (by him).
*Emelia- She was used to get the handkerchief and Iago stabbed her in the back when she revealed him to all.
*Brabantio- He was convinced by Iago and Roderigo that Othello had stolen Desdemona. Desdemona got married without telling him.

What does Emelia tell Desdemona about women being unfaithful?

When Emilia talks to Desdemona about the subject of women being unfaithful she blames the men. She says that men are often not there to fulfill their duties and therefore women are left to find some one that can be there for them. She also says that men are unfaithful to women, so why can it not be the other way around. She says that women have the same wants that a man does and so the situation isn't any different. She strongly believes that the men are to be blamed.

Brabantio..
Brabantio is Desdemona's father. He considers himself a very important man, hes a Venetian Senator. Feeling as though he is a friend to Othello he feels at first betrayed by Othello and Desdemona when hearing about their secret marriage. He claims that the general (othello) has wooed his daughter by use of myterious black magic. (he felt as if there was no other explaination for othello's capture of his daughters heart.) Iago and Rodrigo tell brabantio of the secret marriage. when confronting Othello he eventually for the love of his daughter approves their marraige.

Decievers found in the play are abundant. Although Iago, being the malevelant presence that he is, makes himself known as the primary lying bad-guy in the story, almost everyone in the play lies at least once.
Desdemona begins the web of deceit by marrying in secret, thus alienating her father.
Then the various conspiracies and plots woven by Iago net him his pawn Rodrigo, who also lies for his fair share of the time.
Emilia unintentinally participates is the trickery of Othello by playing a role in the framing of Cassio.
That being said, the environment that had sown the aforementioned web of lies was initially set off by the primary villain Iago, bringing it all back to him.

Dan-
Sorry this is late - hope you still read it! I think it is difficult for ANYONE to be purely good...but I would put Desdemona in this category also. Although she did marry without her father's knowledge, it was for love and not to hurt her father. Her most admirable quality is her loyalty to Othello even after he smothers her; it shows her commitment to her vows and his trust in her. She seemed to have good intentions on helping Cassio as well. Finally, even when Emelia bad-mouths men for their faults, she defends her husband (even though he had just hit her!). I think she is good overall.
